چکیده

Modelling administrative organisations appears to be difficult. We claim that the main reason is that architects, modelling those organisations, encounter problems in finding the right level of abstraction, i.e. in deciding what to describe and what to omit. Based on our experience, we propose four conceptual domains for modelling organisations. These domains constitute the first form of abstraction. However, we stress that relationships between the elements of these domains should not get lost and they should be made visible if the architect wishes it. Within each conceptual domain, three other 'directions' of abstraction can be followed: decomposition, specialisation and broadening scope.
